  7. The worlds clothing is revealed in Isaiah 3:16-24. It is displayed in a style of walking, in the attitude of the individual wearing it, and in its multitude of facets, ornaments, and jewelry.
  8. Babylon displays it in Revelation 17:4 – purple, scarlet, gold, precious stones, and pearls.
  9. God’s clothing style is signified by its simplicity and lack of ornamentation. The focus of the clothing is not to be on specialized hair, nor the wearing of gold, nor on "much" apparel. Ornamentation should be of character rather than jewelry. I Peter 3:1-4
  10. In I Timothy Paul describes the clothing of a Christian woman as modest, not with specialized hair, gold, pearls, or costly array. The woman is to be decorated with good works of Godliness. I Timothy 2:9-10
  11. Jesus wore a garment and a coat. It would appear that His wardrobe was simple and practicle. John 19:23-24
  12. John the Baptist wore prophets clothing – raiment of camels hair and a leather girdle about his loins. Matthew 3:4.
  13. Elijah also wore simple clothing similar to that of John the Baptist. II Kings 1:8
  14. The priesthood wore clothing of linen. Exodus 39:27-29 Purity and simplicty were displayed in these garmets.
  15. The priesthood was to wear linen clothing while minstering and not woolen garments lest their clothing cause them to sweat. Everything was to be pure and clean. Ezekiel 44:17-18
  16. A follower of God was not to wear clothing of mingled linen and wool. Leviticus 19:19. This is to symbolize not mingling of truth and error. Only the pure garment of Christ’s righteousness to be acceptable. Deuteronomy 22:11
  17. In times of rededication God asked His people to remove all jewelry and to wash their clothes so that they would be acceptable to Him. Genesis 35:1-4; Exodus 19:10-11; 33:4-6
  18. In the list of Solomon’s rebellions linen brought from Egypt is listed. Deuteronomy 17:14-20; I Kings 10:24-11:10 see especially I Kings 10:28
  19. Achan was willing to risk his life to have a Babylonian garment. It cost him his life and that of his family as well. Joshua 6:17-19; 7:15,19-26
  20. Gehazi gets leprosy because he lusted after the clothing of Naaman. II Kings 5:15-27
  21. Clothing reflects the state of the heart. Luke 20:46; Matthew 23:5-7
  22. When clothed in the righteousness of Jesus all the world can see Jesus. Ezekiel 16:1-14
  23. When trusting in your own righteousness, as symbolized through our clothing, then we are in rebellion against God. Ezekiel 16:15-59
  24. The goal of the plan of salvation is to have us surrender to Jesus in all things, even our clothing. The righteous are symbolized as wearing clean, white linen washed in the blood of the Lamb. Revelation 7:14; 19:8,14.
  25. Jesus’ church will be clothed in garments without spot or wrinkle and washed by the Word. Ephesians 5:25-27

Communication – corrupt – "…The apostle Paul, writing by the Holy Spirit, says, "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth." Ephesians 4:29. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God." John 3:18-21

Confederacy- "You know what a confederacy is, - a union of men in a work that does not bear the stamp of pure, straightforward, unswerving integrity." 4 BC 1142

Confederacy - "Satan has a large confederacy, his church. Christ call them the synagogue of Satan because the members are the children of sin. The members of Satan's church have been constantly working to cast off the divine law, and confuse the distinction between good and evil. Satan is working with great power in and through the children of disobedience to exalt treason and apostasy as truth and loyalty. And at this time the power of his satanic inspiration is moving the living agencies to carry out the great rebellion against God that commenced in heaven." TM 16

Confessing - Christ - "He who would confess Christ must have Christ abiding in him. He cannot communicate that which he has not received. The disciples might speak fluently on doctrines, they might repeat the words of Christ Himself; but unless they possessed Christ-like meekness and love, they were not confessing Him...." DA 357

Conversion – "After a time some of these do receive evidence of their acceptance with God, and are then led to identify themselves His people. And they date their conversion from this time. But I have been shown that they were adopted into the family of god before that time. God accepted them when they became weary of sin, and having lost their desire for worldly pleasures, resolved to seek God earnestly. But, failing to understand the simplicity of the plan of salvation, they lost many privileges and blessings which they might have claimed had they only believed, when they first turned to God, that He had accepted them." EV 286

Conversion – "…When truth is held as truth only by the conscience, when the heart is not stimulated and made receptive, only the mind is effected. But when the truth is received as truth by the heart, it has passed through the conscience, and has captivated the soul with its pure principles. It is placed in the heart by the Holy spirit, who reveals its beauty to the mind, that its transforming power may be seen in the character." EV 291

Conversion- "God accepted them when they became weary of sin, and having lost their desire for worldly pleasure, resolved to seek God earnestly." MLT 314

Conversion- "Real conversion is a decided change of feelings and motives; it is a virtual taking leave of worldly connections, a hastening from their spiritual atmosphere, a withdrawing from the controlling power of their thoughts, opinions, influences." 5T 82-83

Conversion – "The wind is heard among the branches of the trees, rustling the leaves and flowers; yet it is invisible, and no man knows whence it comes or whither it goes. So with the work of the Holy Spirit upon the heart. It can no more be explained than can the movements of the wind. A person may not be able to tell the exact time or place, or to trace all the circumstances in the process of conversion; but this does not prove him to be unconverted. By an agency as unseen as the wind, Christ is constantly working upon the heart. Little by little, perhaps unconsciously to the receiver, impressions are made that tend to draw the soul to Christ. These may be received through meditating upon Him, through reading the Scriptures, or through hearing the word from the living preacher. Suddenly, as the Spirit comes with more direct appeal, the soul gladly surrenders itself to Jesus. By many this is called sudden conversion; but it is the result of long wooing by the Spirit of God,--a patient, protracted process." DA 172

Conversion, True- "True conversion is a change from selfishness to sanctified affection for God and one another." 1 SM 115

Cord – There are several words in the Bible from which the English word cord comes from. The primary concept for cord is that which allows things to be entwined together or that holds things together or binds together. The concept can also mean a measuring concept.

Counsellers – "Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counsellers." Psalms 119:24

Covenants– new and old– "As the Bible presents two laws, one changeless and eternal, the other provisional and temporary, so there are two covenants. The covenant of grace was first made with man in Eden, when after the fall there was given a divine promise that the seed of the woman should bruise the serpent’s head. To all men this covenant offered pardon and the assisting grace of God for future obedience through faith in Christ. It also promised them eternal life on condition of fidelity to God’s law. Thus the patriarchs received the hope of salvation.

This same covenant was renewed to Abraham in the promise, "In thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed." Genesis 22:18 This promise pointed to Christ. So Abraham understood it (see Galatians 3:8,16), and he trusted in Christ for the forgiveness of sins. It was this faith that was accounted unto him for righteousness….Though this covenant was made with Adam and renewed to Abraham, it could not be ratified until the death of Christ. It had existed by the promise of God since the first intimation of redemption had been given; it had been accepted by faith; yet when ratified by Christ, it is called a new covenant. The law of God was the basis of this covenant, which was simply an arrangement for bringing men again into harmony with the divine will, placing them where they could obey God’s law.

Another compact—called in Scripture the "old" covenant—was formed between God and Israel at Sinai, and was then ratified by the blood of a sacrifice. The Abrahamic covenant was ratified by the blood of Christ, and it is called the "second," or "new," covenant, because the blood by which it was sealed was shed after the blood of the first covenant. That the new covenant was valid in the days of Abraham is evident from the fact that it was then confirmed both by the promise and the oath of God—the "two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie." Hebrews 6:18; PP 370-371

Covenant – old – why? – "But if the Abrahamic covenant contained the promise of redemption, why was another covenant formed at Sinai? In their bondage the people had to a great extent lost the knowledge of God and of the principles of the Abrahamic covenant. In delivering them from Egypt, God sought to reveal to them His power and His mercy, that they might be led to love and trust Him. He brought them down to the Red Sea—where, pursued by the Egyptians, escape seemed impossible—that they might realize their utter helplessness, their need of divine aid; and then He wrought deliverance for them. Thus they were filled with love and gratitude to God and with confidence in His power to help them. He had bound them to Himself as their deliverer from temporal bondage.

But there was a still greater truth to be impressed upon their minds. Living in the midst of idolatry and corruption, they had no true conception of the holiness of God, of the exceeding sinfulness of their own hearts, their utter inability, in themselves, to render obedience to God’s law, and their need of a Saviour. All this they must be taught.

God brought them to Sinai; He manifested His glory; He gave them His law, with the promise of great blessings on condition of obedience: "If ye will obey My voice indeed, and keep My covenant, then…ye shall be unto Me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation." Exodus 19:5,6 The people did not realize the sinfulness of their own hearts, and that without Christ it was impossible for them to keep God’s law; and they readily entered into covenant with God. Feeling that they were able to establish their own righteousness, they declared, "All that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient." Exodus 24:7 They had witnessed the proclamation of the law in awful majesty, and had trembled with terror before the mount; and yet only a few weeks passed before they broke their covenant with God, and bowed down to worship a graven image. They could not hope for the favor of God through a covenant which they had broken; and now, seeing their sinfulness and their need of pardon, they were brought to feel their need of the Saviour revealed in the Abrahamic covenant and shadowed forth in the sacrificial offerings. Now by faith and love they were bound to God as their deliverer from the bondage of sin. Now they were prepared to appreciate the blessings of the new covenant." PP 371-372

Creation – The series of acts in which Jesus, the Creator (Colossians 1:13-17; John 1:1-3,14), formulates our world and all the support aspects for the world. Jesus created the world in 7 days. Jesus also uses the Creation week to be an outline for plan of salvation process. CO

Literal Creation Week:

Preamble – God created the heaven and the earth and the earth was without form and it was void. The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Genesis 1:1-2

The first day of the week – Jesus creates light. Genesis 1:3-5

The second day of the week – Jesus creates the firmament and divides the waters below the firmament from the waters above the firmament. Genesis 1:6-8

The third day of the week – Jesus gathers the waters under the firmament into one place and allows the dry land to appear on which vegetation is brought forth which produces fruit and seed after its kind. Genesis 1:9-13

The fourth day of the week – Jesus creates a collection of lights – the sun, moon, and stars and Jesus places them above the firmament. They are to divide the day from the night and to be signs, for seasons, days, and years. Genesis 1:14-19

The fifth day of the week – Jesus creates the birds and fish. Genesis 1:20-23

The sixth day of the week – Jesus creates the insects and animals. (Genesis 1:24-25) Then in a special act of creation Jesus creates man in the image of God and gives him dominion over all the creation. (Genesis 1:26-28) Jesus then gives special directions for what He wants man to eat. (Genesis 1:29-30). Genesis 1:24-31

The seventh day of the week – Jesus finishes the creation on the 7th day. Jesus rested (ceased His work), blessed the 7th day and sanctified it. Genesis 2:1-3

Spiritual Creation Week:

Preamble – Jesus creates the heaven and the earth. There was darkness (John 1:1-11; I John 2:3-11; Ephesians 5:8) on the face of the waters (peoples Revelation 17:15) but the Spirit of God moved on the waters attempting to communicate to them the blessings of the gospel. CO

The first day of the week – Jesus, the light of the world(John 1:1-11, comes into the world and shines into our hearts. II Corinthians 4:6. Jesus seeks to give this light to those that sit in darkness. Luke 1:76-79 Jesus wants to translate us from the power of darkness into the kingdom of His dear Son. Colossians 1:13

The second day of the week – Jesus wants to separate the waters of the peoples of the earth. Revelation 17:15 Jesus, and His people are from above the firmament and the people of disbelief are from beneath the firmament. John 8:23; 3:12,31. The heavenly Jerusalem is from above and all those who seek to go there must be from above as well. Galatians 4:21-26. The firmament would be that body of truth that separates us from the world – wise in the things of God. Daniel 12:3; Psalms 150:1; 19:1-7

The third day of the week – Both God and satan sow seed to produce plants and fruit. Matthew 13:18-43 Mankind is referred to as grass (I Peter 1:24) and trees (Psalms 1:3; Mark 11:12-14,20-21) that produce their various harvests by being connected to their source of strength. John 15:1-8 God’s people bring forth good fruit (Galatians 5:22-23) and satan’s people bring forth works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21)

The fourth day of the week – In the Christian community the family/church is the spiritual example of the sun, mood, and stars. In Genesis 37:1-11. Jesus is referred to as the Sun of righteousness that heals us. Malachi 4:2; Exodus 15:26 The church, as the wife of Jesus (Genesis 37:10), is the symbol connected to the moon in covenant relationship with Jesus. (Psalms 89:34-37; Revelation 12:1) The stars are the children of the above relationship (Genesis 37:10) and are the ministers of God. (Daniel 12:3; Revelation 1:20) These signs in the heavens are to speak the truths of God in such a manner that the people can know the truth as God chooses to reveal it. (Amos 3:7)

The fifth day of the week – Jesus promises us to protect us and keep us under His wings. Exodus 19:4; Psalms 17:8; Matthew 23:37 Jesus also promises to provide for us, both physically and spiritually, as He fed His people bread and fish. John 21:7-13; Luke 9:12-17; Matthew 17:27

The sixth day of the week – In the Bible the natural, unconverted, man is referred to as a beast. II Peter 2:12; Jude 10; Ephesians 2:3; Daniel 4; Habakkuk 1:14. God wants men to have the image of Christ as He originally created him. (Genesis 1:26-27) God wants us to stand upright (Psalms 20:8) and be men and women for God.

The seventh day of the week – Sabbath is a special time to acknowledge that Jesus is the Creator of all mankind. Exodus 31:12-17 This awareness of Sabbath is one of the signs of life and is a testimony that God is completing His work in the heart and mind. Revelation 14:1-12 Sabbath is one of the major things that separate God’s people from the animal concepts of the world.

Epilog – The creation week is to show, in a brief manner how it is that God will change us and care for us. When He finishes His work in the sanctuary of our heart then we will have the mind of Christ in us and be prepared to live in heaven with Jesus.

Crying- Ezekiel 9:4- "These sighing, crying ones had been holding forth the words of life; they had reproved, counseled, and entreated… In the time when his wrath shall go forth in judgments, these humble, devoted followers of Christ will be distinguished from the rest of the world by their soul anguish, which is expressed in lamentation and weeping, reproofs and warnings. While others try to throw a cloak over the existing evil, and excuse the great wickedness everywhere prevalent, these who have a zeal for God's honour and a love for souls will not hold their peace to obtain favor of any. Their righteous souls are vexed day by day with the unholy works and conversation of the unrighteous. They are powerless to stop the rushing torrent of iniquity, and hence they are filled with grief and alarm. They mourn before God to see religion despised in the very homes of those who have had great light. They lament and afflict their souls because pride, avarice, selfishness, and deception of almost every kind are in the church." 5T 210
