Faith- "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Heb. 11:1

Faith- "A living faith means an increase of vigor, a confiding trust, by which the soul becomes a conquering power." GW 261

Faith - "But faith is in no sense allied to presumption. Only he who has true faith is secure against presumption. For presumption is Satan's counterfeit of faith. Faith claims God's promises, and brings forth fruit in obedience. Presumption also claims the promises, but uses them as Satan did, to excuse transgressions. Faith would have led our first parents to trust the love of god, and to obey His commands. Presumption led them to transgress His law, believing that His great love would save them from the consequence of their sin. It is not faith that claims the favor of Heaven without complying with the condition on which mercy is to be granted. Genuine faith has its foundation in the promise and provision of the Scriptures." DA 126

Faith- "By faith--faith that renounces all self-trust--the needy suppliant is to lay hold upon infinite power." COL 159

Faith – "Faith in Christ as the world’s Redeemer calls for an acknowledgement of the enlightened intellect controlled by a heart that can discern and appreciate the heavenly treasure. This faith is inseparable from repentance and transformation of character. To have faith means to find and accept the gospel treasure, with all the obligations which it imposes." COL 112

Faith – "Faith is the gift of God, but the power to exercise it is ours. Faith is the hand by which the soul takes hold upon the divine offers of grace and mercy." PP 431

Faith- "Faith is the medium through which truth or error finds a lodging place in the mind. It is the same act of mind that truth or error is received, but it makes a decided difference whether we believe the Word of God or the sayings of man." 1SM 346; PP 563

Faith- "Faith is not a happy flight of feeling; it is simply taking god at His word – believing that He will fulfill His promises because He said He would." OHC 119

Faith- "Faith is simply taking God at His word." 1T 620

Faith- "Faith is trusting God, believing that He loves us and knows best what is for our good." ED 253

Faith- "The only faith that will benefit us is that which embraces Him as a personal Saviour; which appropriates His merits to ourselves. Many have faith as an opinion. But saving faith is a transaction, by which those who receive Christ join themselves in covenant relation with God. Genuine faith is life." MH 62

Faith - "Through faith we receive the grace of God; but faith is not our Saviour. It earns nothing. It is the hand by which we lay hold upon Christ, and appropriate His merits, the remedy of sin." DA 175

Faith - "To talk of religion in a casual way, to pray without soul hunger and living faith avails nothing. A nominal faith in Christ, which accepts Him merely as the Saviour of the world, can never bring healing to the soul. The faith that is unto salvation is not a mere intellectual assent to the truth. He who waits for entire knowledge before he will exercise faith, cannot receive blessing from God. It is not enough to believe about Christ; we must believe in Him. The only faith that will benefit us is that which embraces Him as a personal Saviour; which appropriates His merits to ourselves. Many hold faith as an opinion. Saving faith is a transaction by which those who receive Christ join themselves in covenant relation with God. Genuine faith is life. A living faith means an increase of vigor, a confiding trust, by which the soul becomes a conquering power." DA 347

Faith- "True faith is not a faith that will fail under test and trial, it is the gift of God to His people." 2 SM 375

Faith- "When we speak of faith, there is a distinction that should be borne in mind. There is a kind of belief that is wholly distinct from faith. The existence and power of god, the truth of His word, are facts that even Satan and his hosts cannot at heart deny. The bible says that "the devils also believe and tremble;" but this is not faith. Where there is not only a belief in god’s Word, but a submission of the will to Him; where the heart is yielded to Him, the affections fixed upon Him, there is faith, faith that works by love, and purifies the soul." SC 63

Faith – "Where there is not only a belief in God’s word, but a submission of the will to Him; where the heart is yielded to Him, the affection fixed upon Him, there is faith – faith that works by love and purifies the soul." SC 63-64

Faith of Jesus - "The faith of Jesus." It is talked of, but not understood. What constitutes the faith of Jesus, that belongs to the third angel's message? Jesus becoming our sin-bearer that He might become our sin-pardoning Saviour. He was treated as we deserve to be treated. He came to our world and took our sins that we might take His righteousness. And faith in the ability of Christ to save us amply and fully and entirely is the faith of Jesus. 3SM 172.3

Fall from Grace – See Grace – fall from.

Fall on the Rock and be broken - "To those who believe, Christ is the sure foundation. These are they who fall upon the rock and are broken. Submission to Christ and faith in Him are here represented. To fall upon the Rock and be broken is to give up our self-righteousness and to go to Christ with the humility of a child, repenting of our transgressions, and believing in His forgiving love. And so also it is by faith and obedience that we build on Christ as our foundation." DA 599

Falsehood- "An intention to deceive is what constitutes falsehood." PP 309

Family of Jesus - "The apostles were members of the family of Jesus..." DA 349.

Fanaticism – "About this time, fanaticism began to appear. Some who had professed to be zealous believer in the message rejected the Word of God as the one infallible guide and claiming to be led by the Spirit, gave themselves up to the control of their own feelings, impressions, and imaginations. There were some who manifested a blind and bigoted zeal, denouncing all who would not sanction their course." GC 395

Fanaticism – "The inspiration claimed by Munzer and his associates proceeded from no higher source than the vagaries of the imagination, and its influence was subversive of all authority, human or divine." GC 193

Fast- true- "The true fast is no mere formal service. The Scripture describes the fast that God has chosen – "To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke;" to "draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul." Isa 58:6,10" DA 278

The frogs were everywhere – they were pervasive. The frogs were a plague in that you could see them in every phase of life and they disrupted it at many levels. When the plague was removed the dead frogs remained and even contaminated the air by their decaying odor. In Revelation 16:13-14 we are told that three unclean spirits like frogs came out of the mouths – legislative capacity or speaking of false doctrines and errors, of the dragon – Satan or primary military agent of Satan; beast – Roman Catholic Church System, the false prophet – apostate Protestantism, – they are pervasive in their influence of every facet of life. Furnace - (In context of Abraham's covenant with God.) "As a pledge of this covenant of God with men, a smoking furnace and a burning lamp, symbols of the divine presence, passed between the severed victims, totally consuming them. Furnace - of affliction - "God has always tried His people in the furnace of affliction. It is in the heat of the furnace that the dross is separated from the true gold of the Christian character. Jesus watches the test; He knows what is needed to purify the precious metal, that it may reflect the radiance of His love. It is by close, testing trials that God disciplines His servants. He sees that some have powers which may be used in the advancement of His work, and He puts these persons upon trial; in His providence He brings them into positions that test their character and reveal defects and weaknesses that have been hidden from their own knowledge. He gives them opportunity to correct these defects and to fit them-selves for His service. He shows them their own weakness, and teaches them to lean upon Him; for He is their only help and safeguard. Thus His object is attained. They are educated, trained, and disciplined, prepared to fulfill the grand purpose for which their powers were given them. When God calls them to action, they are ready, and heavenly angels can unite with them in the work to be accomplished on the earth." PP 129-130
