Offering – Peace – “The peace offerings were especially an expression of thanksgiving to God. In these offerings the fat alone was to be burned upon the altar; a certain specified portion was reserved for the priests, but the greater part was returned to the offerer, to be eaten by him and his friends in a sacrificial feast. Thus all hearts were to be directed, in gratitude and faith, to the great Sacrifice that was to take away the sin of the world.” PP 576

Ordinances - Instructions on how God wants something to be done. Usually attached to the instructions regarding how to conduct the sanctuary services and sacrifices. Also, gives guidelines as to how God wanted other things to be done as well, such as how to participate in the covenants and how to relate to worship issues. Ordinances are also equated to traditions - I Corinthians 11:2 margin KJV.

Exodus 12:14,17,43 Ordinances of how to keep Passover.

Leviticus 18:1-5 Do not walk in the ordinances of Egypt, or  Canaan. But walk in the ordinances, statutes, and jugments that I (the Lord God) give you for in obedience to them you will be able to live.

Leviticus 18:6-30 Instructions about incest and nakedness.

Leviticus 22:9 Instructions about uncleaness.

Numbers 15:1-16 Ordinances=law=manner.

II Kings 17:6-41 The Israelites rebelled against the statutes and   ordinances of God and God displaced them. He allowed the Assyrians to bring in other people who feared the Lord but followed the ordinances of their own land. The fathers of the Samaritans.

II Chronicles 33:7-8 Manasseh violated the ordinances that God said that if you follow them He would not remove you.

Psalms 99:6-7 Moses, Aaron, Samuel followed the ordinances.

Isaiah 24:5 The earth is defiled because the people transgressed the laws, rebelled against the ordinances, and broke the everlasting      covenant.

Ezekiel 11:17-21 God promises to give the converts a new heart so that they will walk in His statutes and keep His ordinances. Those people who obey will be His people and He will be their God. God empowers them to do His will and it is not by their own power and effort. Hebrews 10:16-17

Ezekiel 44 Contrast between obdience and disobedience towards the ordinances.

Luke 1:6 Parents of John the Baptist were blameless - they walked in all the commandments and ordinances of God - they were   righteous.

Ephesians 2:11-22 Jesus abolished the commandments of ordinances and brought together the Gentile and the Jews.

Colossians 2:1-23 Jesus nailed the shadowy ordiances to the cross, and the ordinances of men, that are contrary to the love of God are disposed of.

Hebrews 9:1-28 The old sanctuary service had ordinances and the sanctuary service in heaven has ordinances as well.

 

Ornament of gold – “As an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.” Proverbs 25:12

 

Ornament of grace - "My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother, for they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head and chains about thy neck." Proverbs 1:8-9; 3:1-3; 3:21-22; 4:7-9; 6:20-21

 

Overcoming- “…as Christ overcame, by resisting or enduring temptation, circumstances are controlled by the might of the will in the name of Jesus. This is overcoming.” 4T 346

 

Overflowing – Act of a river swelling over its banks and threatening to overwhelm peoples or kingdoms. Overflowing used symbolically to describe the attack of nations against nations using concepts and ideas as well as people. CO

Attack by the king of Assyria. Isaiah 8:5-8

Babylon. Jeremiah 47:2

Jesus is in control of all overflowings. Job 28:11

Red Sea overflowed Egyptian army. Deuteronomy 11:4

Remnant will be granted righteousness by the overflowing   judgments of God. Isaiah 10:20-23; Joshua 3&4

Symbol of attack by another nation, literally or spiritually. Daniel 11:10,22,26,40; Revelation 12:15-16

Symbol of attack by negative thinking. Psalms 69:2,15

Symbol of judgment. Isaiah 28:16-18; Joel 3:13; II Peter 3:6; Isaiah 30:27-28; Ezekiel 13:10-11

Symbol of prosperity. Joel 2:24; Psalms 78:20

When you walk with God the waters will not overflow you. Isaiah 43:1-4
