Spiritual Dictionary Section I-1

Image of God- “…so the face of Christ revealed innocence, serenity, benevolence, - the image of God.” DA 754

Image to God- the ability to reason. Temp 37

Image to the Beast – “And all who will not bow to the decree of the national councils and obey the national laws to exalt the Sabbath instituted by the man of sin, too the disregard of God’s holy day, will feel, not the oppressive power of popery alone, but of the Protestant world, the image of the beast.” II SM 380

Image of the Beast – “In order for the United States to form an image of the beast, the religious power must so control the civil government that the authority of the state will also be employed by the church to accomplish her own ends.” GC 443

Image to the Beast- (Rev 13)- “The “Image to the Beast” represents that form of apostate Protestantism which will be developed when the Protestant churches shall seek the aid of the civil power for the enforcement of their dogmas.” GC 445, 443

Image to the Beast- (Rev 13)- “When the leading churches of the United States, uniting upon such points of doctrine as are held by them in common, shall influence the state to enforce their decrees and to sustain their institutions, then Protestant America will have formed an image to the Roman hierarchy, and the infliction of civil penalties upon dissenters will inevitably result.” GC 443, 445

Immortality – That quality of never ending life that God alone has. God has ever been and always been. He has no starting point or ending point. God alone has immortality. I Timothy 6:14-16; I Timothy 1:17.  God has sent immortality as an option to mankind through the gospel of His Son Jesus Christ and offers Immortality as a gift. II Timothy 1:10 and Romans 6:23. This gift is received by faith and then realized physically at the second coming of Jesus. I Corinthians 15:42-57.  This gift is maintained by continual access to and consumption of the fruit of the tree of life. Genesis 2:9,15-16; 3:22-24; Revelation 21:23-22:7. CO

See Mortality.

Incense- “May my prayer be counted as incense before thee.” Ps. 141:2; Rev 8:3-4; DA 568

Incense – “The incense, ascending with the prayers of Israel, represents the merits and intercession of Christ, His perfect righteousness, which through faith is imputed to His people, and which can alone make the worship of sinful beings acceptable to God. Before the veil of the most holy place was an altar of perpetual intercession, before the holy, an altar of continual atonement. By blood and by incense God was to be approached – symbols pointing to the great Mediator, through whom sinners may approach Jehovah, and through whom alone mercy and salvation can be granted to the repentant, believing soul.” PP 353

Incense- “…this incense was an emblem of the mediation of Christ.” Confrontation 81

Incense- “Incense, representing the blood of the atonement.” 7BC 971

Incense- “Pray in your closet, and as you go about your daily labor let your heart be often uplifted to God. It was thus that Enoch walked with God. These silent prayers rise like precious incense before the throne of grace.” SC 97-99

Incense- “The religious services, the prayers, the praise, the penitent confession of sin ascend from true believers as incense to the heavenly sanctuary.” 6BC 1078, 1 SM 344

Indignation, righteous- “When they see that God is dishonored, and His service brought into disrepute, when they see the innocent oppressed, a righteous indignation stirs the soul. Such anger, born of sensitive morals, is not a sin.” DA 310

Infidelity - "But the assumption that the events of the first week required thousands upon thousands of years, strikes directly at the foundation of the fourth commandment. It represents the creator as commanding men to observe the week of literal days in commemoration of vast indefinite periods. This is unlike His method of dealing with His creatures. It makes indefinite and obscure that which He has made very plain. It is infidelity in it' most insidious and hence most dangerous form; it's real character is so disguised that it is held and taught by many who profess to believe the Bible." PP 111

Influence of the Holy Spirit- “The influence of the Holy Spirit is the life of Christ in the soul.” TIMKH 171

Insane- “The anxious burdened seekers for worldly gain are blind and insane.” 3T 250

Insinuation- “Closely allied to gossip is the covert insinuation, the sly innuendo, by which the unclean in heart seek to insinuate the evil they dare not openly express.” ED 236

Intellect- “Intellect ennobled, purified, heaven directed, is the universal power to build up the kingdom of God.” 6BC 1105

Israel - "In proclaiming the truths of the everlasting gospel to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, God's church on earth today is fulfilling the ancient prophecy, "Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit." Isaiah 27:6. The followers of Jesus, in co-operation with heavenly intelligences, are rapidly occupying the waste places of the earth; and, as the result of their labors, an abundant fruitage of precious souls is developing. Today, as never before, the dissemination of Bible truth by means of a consecrated church is bringing to the sons of men the benefits foreshadowed centuries ago in the promise to Abraham and to all Israel, --to God's church on earth in every age,--"I will bless thee,…and thou shalt be a blessing." Genesis 12:2" PK 703

Israel – spiritual – “Many of these converts from heathenism would wish to unite themselves fully with the Israelites, and accompany them on the return journey to Judea. Israel – true – “So the people of God – the true Israel – though scattered throughout all nations, are on earth but sojourner, whose citizenship is in heaven.” PP 447
