"Those who have chosen Satan as their leader and have been controlled by his power are not prepared to enter the presence of God. Pride, deception, licentiousness, cruelty, have become fixed in their characters. Can they enter heaven to dwell forever with those whom they despised and hated on earth? What source of enjoyment could heaven offer to those who are wholly absorbed in earthly and selfish interests?

Could those whose lives have been spent in rebellion against God be suddenly transported to heaven and witness the high, the holy state of perfection that ever exists there, -- every soul filled with love, every countenance beaming with joy, enrapturing music in melodious strains rising in honor of God and the Lamb, and ceaseless streams of light flowing upon the redeemed from the face of Him who sitteth upon the throne, --could those whose hearts are filled with hatred of God, of truth and holiness, mingle with the heavenly throng and join their songs of praise? Could they endure the glory of God and the Lamb? When Adam and Eve chose Satan to lead them did their language change in the direction of Satan’s kingdom?

After sin were Adam and Eve afraid of the language/tongue of heaven? When God spoke to them they were afraid. Genesis 3:9-10

The whole earth was of one language and one speech. Genesis 11:1

God confounded the language of earth and scattered the people. Genesis 11:2-9

God’s Word follows the development of the experience of the people of Shem – the Shemites. Genesis 11:10-32

At Sinai God’s people were afraid of the language/tongue of heaven and asked that God not speak to them. Exodus 20:18-21; Hebrews 12:18-21

"The secret things belong unto the Lord our God; but those things that are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law." Deuteronomy 29:29

Ruth was willing to accept all of the facets of the Hebrew culture out of love for Naomi. Ruth 1:3-17. Would that include the language/tongue of Hebrew as well?

Israel eventually came to the point of choosing lies over the truth – rejected the language of heaven. Jeremiah 5:1-31

Israel was eventually captured by Babylon, at the permission of God. Daniel 1:1-2

Daniel was given the gift of interpreting tongues to interpret the writings of God on the walls of Belshazzar’s feast. Daniel 5

After Cyrus sends Israel back to the land of Canaan they marry wives of heathen kingdoms and the Holy Seed can not speak the language of Israel. Ezra 9:1-2; Nehemiah 13:23-27

By Christ’s time of life Israel had so departed from God that people spoke various forms of false tongues:

1. Communication and worship styles of Baal including cutting themselves and crying out. I Kings 18:21-28

2. Inhabiting places of the death, cursing, cutting themselves. Mark 5:1-7

3. Saying good things for the wrong reasons, thus being evil. Luke 4:33-37; Acts 16:16-18; Matthew 7:15-21

4. Swearing and cursing as a sign of not being a Christian. Matthew 26:69-75

5. Virtually every thing that came out of the mouth of people was a false tongue that brought disrepute to God. Romans 3:9-14; Ezekiel 36:16-20; Exodus 20:7,16

6. Israel chose the lie to speak after their father the devil; they did not understand the language of the truth. John 8:37-45

In the time of Christ when God spoke most people did not understand His speech and heard it as thunder, while true believers recognized the voice of God. John 12:20-30

When Jesus was preparing to leave the earth He instructed His disciples that they were to be witnesses to Him to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and then all of the world, once the Holy Ghost came upon them. Acts 1:8

When the Holy Ghost fell on the disciples they spoke of the wonderful works of God to all different languages. Acts 2:1-11

It is the Holy Spirit who gives various gifts to whomever He wants. I Corinthians 12:7-11

If one speaks with tongues, but has no love, he is worthless. I Corinthians 13:1

According to Paul we all should seek after spiritual gifts and that we should prioritize the gift of prophecy over that of tongues. I Corinthians 14:1-5.39

We will need gifts until the church is fully united in Christ and are a mature people. Ephesians 4:1-16

Miracles, including healing, tongues, prophecy are a secondary display of the power of God. The primary displays of God’s power are the following:

"Jesus met Satan with the words of Scripture. "It is written," He said. In every temptation the weapon of His warfare was the Word of God. Satan demanded of Christ a miracle as a sign of His divinity. But that which is greater than all miracles, a firm reliance upon a "Thus saith the Lord" was a sign that could not be controverted. So long as Christ held to this position, the tempter could gain no advantage." Desire of Ages 120

"…The miracles of Christ are a proof of His divinity; but a stronger proof that He is the world’s Redeemer is found in comparing the prophecies of the Old Testament with the history of the New." Desire of Ages 799

"That which led the Jews to reject the Saviour’s work was the highest evidence of His divine character. The greatest significance of His miracles is seen in the fact that they were for the blessing of humanity. The highest evidence that He came from God is that His life revealed the character of God. He did the works and spoke the words of God. Such a life is the greatest of all miracles." Desire of Ages 406-407

In the end God will send His witnesses to proclaim the gospel to every nation, kindred, tongue and people through the messages of the three angels. Revelation 14:1-14

In the end God’s people will be so changed by His grace and gospel (Ezekiel 36; Zechariah 3) that they will not be afraid of Him when He speaks in the end and will welcome His presence. Revelation 16:17; Isaiah 25:6-9; I Thessalonians 4:13-18
